Background Removal Is quick and easy following these steps:

1. Open your design canvas in Canva

2. Chose one of Canva’s images from the library, or upload one of your own

3. Click or drag the image onto your design canvas

4. Click on ‘Edit Image’ in the top toolbar

5. Click on ‘BG Remover’ in the box that opens on the left

6. Use the ‘Erase’ tool to clean up the image if it needs it, or the ‘Restore’ tool if you’re not happy with the result

7. Download your image as a .png while selecting ‘Transparent Background’ in the dropdown

Then you can click ‘Edit Image’ and then ‘BG Remover’…

You’ll see in this example the background removal was a little too aggressive. The image (a car in this example) lost a headlight, the rear section, and part of the windshield…

If you click on ‘Restore’ a brush size slide adjustment will pop up…

When working with small details on an image you’ll want to adjust the brush size smaller. Also, checking the box marked ‘Show Original Image’ will give you a faint version of the original image to make your adjustments easier to see…

Your adjustment tool is this small circle that shows up on your screen. As you adjust the brush size it will appear smaller or larger. You’ll find smaller is better for fine details, and larger is better for bigger details (like the windshield in this example). Just click on the circle and drag it over the areas you want to erase or restore…

In this image you’ll see the headlight, rear section, and windshield are all now restored…

Be sure to download your image as a .png and check the box marked ‘Transparent Background’.
